We were all excited to find out what the floating school was as questions like, “Can we get internet access on the floating school?”, “Why do you have to have a floating school?”, “If we jumped hard enough, will the school sink?”, or the most classic “Why is it called a floating school?”.
The one and a half hour boat ride was fun. We managed to have our devotion and worship time during the trip. As we approached the floating school, the staff rang the bell to alert everyone to our coming. The children started running out and greeted us. They seemed happy and healthy overall. We got the clinic running and did a presentation before lunch. The children made their way back to their floating homes for lunch. It was interesting as we watched them take their own food bowls to scoop water out of their boats!
We finished clinic at 3.30 pm and headed back to Siem Reap. The mission work was over and we could get a good rest. Everyone let loose and sat on the boat bow to sing and dip their feet in the cool waters of the lake. We were filled with mixed emotions. Joy that we could take some rest and sadness that ministry work was over. We miss seeing the faces of those cambodian children whose eyes spoke a thousand words.
